Amy Exelby

Amy serves as Deputy Executive Director, where her primary responsibilities include developing and implementing BISC’s strategic plans and priorities, overseeing all organizational operations – including fundraising, and providing leadership and direction to the BISC team.

Prior to joining BISC in November 2010, Amy spent 15 years in Los Angeles in a variety of political roles. In 2000, she joined Planned Parenthood Los Angeles as public affairs and political director, where her fight for reproductive justice included several ballot initiative battles. After six years at Planned Parenthood, Amy became Southern California political director for Westly for Governor. Following the campaign, Amy served as vice consul for political, press and public affairs for the British Consulate-General in Los Angeles, where she acted as a liaison between British and American political leaders, promoting the UK’s international strategic priorities – including furthering human rights and environmental stewardship. She most recently served as a political and communications advisor in the private sector.

Amy is a proud VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) alumna, having worked at Pinal County Cities in Schools in Coolidge, Arizona. She has a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and her undergraduate degree is from the University of California at Davis. Amy is married to fine art photographer and political gadabout, Quinn, and they have a young daughter, Harper.  They live in Washington, D.C.
