The Road Ahead 2018

BISC’s annual Road Ahead conference has long been considered the place to discover the latest best practices and research on ballot-measure and civic engagement campaigns. This is the only progressive conference dedicated exclusively to ballot measure best practices and is a can’t miss event for those in the progressive world. Ballot-measure practitioners from across the country gather in Vegas to to develop and support ballot initiative strategy.

Road Ahead FAQs:

1.) What and when is Road Ahead?

The Road Ahead conference is the progressive community’s only conference solely dedicated to ballot measures.

It is typically held every February in Las Vegas.

2.) Who comes to Road Ahead?

Road Ahead attendees come from all corners of the country and all parts of the progressive community. What unites them all is a desire to use ballot measures as a vehicle for social change. 

3.) How do I register?

Attendance at Road Ahead is by invitation only. If you think you or your organization would benefit by attending Road Ahead, please e-mail us at roadahead@ballot.org

4.) What’s on the agenda for 2018’s Road Ahead?

The 2018 agenda is still being finalized and will be shared with registrants before the conference begins. We expect to discuss a variety of issues that are of interest to the progressive community including voting rights, economic inequality, criminal justice and attacks to the ballot measure process.

6.) Can I see the attendee list?

The attendee list will be shared with registrants at the start of the conference.

7.) Are there scholarships to attend Road Ahead?

We are pleased to announce that BISC will be awarding a limited number of scholarships this year to cover ticket and hotel costs. For more information please e-mail roadahead@ballot.org.

8.) What is Road Ahead’s refund policy? Can I change the name associated with my ticket? 

Ticket cancellations to Road Ahead are fully refundable up to one week prior to the event. Requests for cancellation due to emergency circumstances past this deadline will be reviewed on case-by-case basis.

Exchanges or name changes can be processed until a week prior to the event. Requests made after that time will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

9.) How do I become a presenter at Road Ahead? 

All Road Ahead session topics and speakers are selected by BISC staff.

10.) Does Road Ahead have a dress code?

No, but most attendees dress in casual or business casual attire. Because the temperature in the conference rooms can fluctuate, we strongly suggest dressing in layers.

11.) Is it possible to reserve a room at the conference for a special meeting?

Unfortunately, our conference space does not have private rooms for meetings.

For the first time ever, we will be allowing attendees to create self-organized caucuses on the last day of the conference. All self-organized caucuses must be open to all Road Ahead attendees. For more information on self-organized caucuses please e-mail roadahead@ballot.org.

12.) Is food served at Road Ahead?

BISC will provide breakfast, lunch and one snack on the first two days of the conference. On day three only breakfast will be served. Beverages will be available throughout the conference.
