Statement from Ballot Initiative Strategy Center on Trump Rally Violence
WASHINGTON — The Ballot Initiative Strategy Center’s executive director, Chris Melody Fields Figueredo, released the following statement:
“In our quest to build the world we deserve, political violence is never the answer.
It has no place in our democracy and all of us deserve to engage in our political process safely and peacefully. We also deserve to live in a country where people, volunteers, and organizers can safely engage with their communities and the democratic process without the fear of violence, attacks, or retribution of any kind. We condemn the violence this weekend and any other election-related violence.
As we move forward in our work, we will continue to center the communities harmed by political violence and prioritize safety. We will not allow acts of violence and fear to distract us from the critical work we must do to make ballot measures love letters to our people.”
