Marsha Donat

Capacity Building Director

Since 2015, Marsha has worked directly with state and national partners, as well as funders, to build strategic and equitable campaigns that build long-term power and strengthen the skills and capacities within the ballot measure field. In her role as the Capacity Building Director, Marsha leads the BISC training program which equips people with essential campaign skills to win and transform power in their states. Marsha’s is most proud of the opportunity she has to work with, support, and learn from advocates across the country through one-on-one strategic assistance and convening peer learning conversations to share information, best practices, and solve challenges.

Prior to coming to BISC, Marsha served as the Grassroots Manager for Planned Parenthood Northern California and Planned Parenthood Northern California Action Fund where implemented strategic field campaigns to make California a leader in reproductive health care access. She got her start in ballot measures in 2011 on the Mississippians for Healthy Families Campaign. She went on to serve as the GOTV Director for the Respect ABQ Women campaign in 2013.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Marsha now lives in Washington, DC where she spends her time grabbing a meal or a drink with friends, planning her next vacation, and binge-watching the latest Netflix phenomenon.
