ROAD AHEAD ’26 FAQ

Road Ahead – BISC’s signature, invitation-only conference is the progressive community’s conference solely dedicated to ballot measures. BISC’s yearly event features state-based advocates, ballot measure campaign experts, movement leaders, and funding partners – all focused on how ballot measures can build power and be a tool for liberation.

When is Road Ahead 2026?

Road Ahead 2026 will be held from March 10-12, 2026.

Where is Road Ahead 2026?

Road Ahead 2026 will be in Cleveland, Ohio. 

Why Ohio? Ohio has a rich history of grassroots activism and organizing, advancing social justice and civil rights, and using ballot measures to protect worker rights, reproductive rights, and more. Cleveland is also home to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, inventions like the traffic light and Lifesavers candy, and so much more!BISC has also spent more than a decade investing in Ohioan local leaders, organizations, and civic engagement infrastructure.

Who comes to Road Ahead?

Road Ahead attendees come from all corners of the country and all parts of the progressive community. What unites them all is a desire to use ballot measures as a vehicle for social change.

How do I register?

Attendance at Road Ahead is by invitation only. If you think you or your organization would benefit from attending Road Ahead, please email us at [email protected].

The Ballot Initiative Strategy Center is committed to the well-being of our guests, participants, and staff. We follow local, state, and federal public health guidance, as well as any requirements set by our meeting venue.

Are there any health protocols in place at Road Ahead?

We encourage all attendees of the Road Ahead to prioritize their health and well-being, supporting both personal health and the health of our community. Participation is at your own responsibility for your health and care.

Stay home when appropriate: If you are feeling unwell, have symptoms of illness, have tested positive for a contagious condition, are awaiting test results, or have had close contact with someone who is sick, please do not attend the conference. Taking these precautions helps keep our community safe and healthy.

Can I see the attendee list?

The attendee list will be shared with registrants through the Road Ahead event app at the start of the conference. Stay tuned for details on how to access the app!

Are there scholarships to attend Road Ahead?

BISC offers a limited number of scholarships to first-time attendees and/or organizers within our movement. You can apply for a Road Ahead 2026 scholarship here.

 

How do I become a presenter at Road Ahead?

All Road Ahead speakers are selected by BISC staff.

What is Road Ahead’s cancellation and refund policy?

If you can no longer attend, we encourage you to first see if another person from your organization can take your place. If you are unable to transfer your ticket, you may request a refund of up to 50% (minus a 10% processing fee) through February 20, 2026. No refunds will be issued after this date. To notify us of a cancellation or request a refund, please email [email protected]  with the subject line: “Cancellation.”

Does Road Ahead have a dress code?

No, but most attendees dress in casual or business casual attire. Because the temperature in the conference rooms can fluctuate, we strongly suggest dressing in layers.

Is it possible to reserve a room at the conference for a special meeting?

Please send meeting requests to [email protected]. We cannot guarantee the capacity to reserve a room.

Are meals served at Road Ahead?

Yes. Road Ahead will provide brunch on Day 1 (as the conference begins at noon) and one snack break each day. On Day 3, only breakfast will be served.
